WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council isn’t interested in placing work hour restrictions on construction workers building in residential areas.

It was discussed at Monday’s council work session after City Hall received complaints of workers in a northeast Watertown neighborhood using floodlights and heavy, noisy equipment at a job site before sunrise and well after sunset.

Public Works Director Heath VonEye….

VonEye says there’s no language on the books restricting work hours for contractors working on a private development, but there IS for city-backed projects…..

City Councilman Mike Danforth represents Ward A, where the complaints originated….

Councilman Kyle Peters agreed, saying putting restrictions on contractor hours would be, “government overreach.”
