ABERDEEN, S.D.–The first hearings on proposed carbon capture pipelines in South Dakota begin next week. The Navigator and Summit Carbon Solutions pipelines have been contentious over issues concerning eminent domain and safety.

Ed Fischbach farms near Mellette in Spink County. He’s been among a group of private citizens and state legislators urging Governor Kristi Noem to call a special legislative session to address private property rights.

Governor Noem says without consensus from lawmakers, a special session would be fruitless.

Absent a special session, Fischbach says there are other things the governor can do….
