Another correctional officer assaulted at South Dakota Penitentiary

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.–There’s word of another attack on a correction officer at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
Corporal Jesse Perry got into a verbal argument with an inmate. The conflict grew and the inmate attacked Perry, causing numerous facial injuries.
Officers stated the incident happened around noon Saturday, and Perry was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Back in August, two separate assaults on correctional officers happened within a few days of each other at the State Penitentiary. In one of those attacks, two inmates were subsequently charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
