Pickup destroyed by fire; Watertown police make arrest

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Fire destroyed a pickup in Watertown early Saturday morning.

Fire crews were dispatched at 2 a.m. to the intersection of 9th Avenue and 6th Street Northeast.

They arrived to find the cab of a Ford Ranger pickup fully involved with fire.

The driver was outside the vehicle.

Fire crews dumped about 150 gallons of water on the fire to extinguish it.

The pickup was driven by a 19 year-old man from Wentworth, South Dakota, who admitted doing multiple “burnouts” prior to the truck catching fire.

The driver was arrested for DUI and Exhibition Driving. That person’s name was not released.

The Ford Ranger was towed from the scene by Performance Towing.
