Woman dies in crash on Highway 12 east of Groton

GROTON, S.D. – A woman has died of injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash on Monday, five miles east of Groton.
The 50 year-old woman was driving a 2017 Ford Camry eastbound on U.S. Highway 12 when she struck a deer. The vehicle drove through the median, across the westbound lanes, entered a ditch, and went into a slough.
The driver was first airlifted to an Aberdeen hospital and then airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital where she died.
Her name will be released when family members have been notified.
