WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council has taken another step toward dumping the city-owned Wells Fargo Bank Building on North Maple into the hands of a developer in the private sector.
On Monday, the council approved the authorization to advertise and accept bids to sell the building.
City Manager Amanda Mack recommended it happen through a sealed bid process…
City Attorney Lisa Carrico explains how the process will play out…
The city bought the building for $1.3 million in November 2020 with the intention of remodeling it into a new City Hall, but those plans were scrapped when the only remodeling bid they received came in way over budget.
Meanwhile, the search for a new City Hall location continues.
