Watertown Post 17 earns extra inning win in split with Sioux Falls West

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) – Watertown Post 17 would split their games Wednesday at Sioux Falls West.

The purple and gold would fall in game one 6-1. Ryan Roby had one hit and one RBI in the contest. Drew Denzer and Jack Heesch also had one hit. Jackson Maag pitched five and a third innings allowing nine hits, six runs, walking three, and fanning three.

Game two would swing the other direction for a 10-6 victory in eight innings for Watertown. Post 17 would tie the game up at six in the seventh inning and score four more in the eighth for the win. Denzer would lead Watertown with a two-hit, one RBI evening. Roby, Rabine, Will Engstrom, Carson Mutschler, and Jerod Cyrus all would collect one hit.

Cyrus would go five innings on the hill, allowing six runs, walking three while striking out seven. Roby pitched three innings in relief.

Watertown (7-10) is right back to work tonight coming home to face a new opponent on the schedule, Groton. Coach Ryan Neale says playing Groton has been a few years in the making:
