Watertown police: Two businesses fail alcohol compliance checks

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown police say two businesses failed alcohol compliance checks that were conducted this week.

Detective Sergeant Trevor Barthel says the checks, done jointly by police and the Codington County Sheriff’s Office, were executed at nine businesses in the city and county.

Businesses that passed the compliance checks were:
–Hy-Vee (Watertown)
–WalMart (Watertown)
–LT’s Liquor (Watertown)
–Winner’s Circle Casino (Watertown)
–Cowboy 3 Liquor (Watertown)
–Sidetrack Lounge (Florence)
–Double Barrel (Henry)

Businesses that failed the compliance checks were:
–Lake Stop 20 (Watertown)
–Rooster Bar (Watertown)

A citation was issued to employees who failed the compliance checks for selling alcohol to a person under the age of 21.

Watertown police and Codington County Sheriff’s Office remind businesses to verify that customers are 21 or older when purchasing alcohol.
