Watertown police arrest three people for passing fraudulent checks

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown police arrested three people this week following a report of fraudulent checks being cashed at a local casino.

Police were called to a casino in the 1300 block of 5th Avenue Southeast Wednesday on a report of the checks being cashed.

About four hours later, a traffic stop by the South Dakota Highway Patrol in the 3300 block of 9th Avenue Southeast netted the suspects.

Authorities arrested 54 year-old Roy French and 33 year-old Shawn Albrecht of Watertown, and 36 year-old Aida Mahmutovic of Sioux Falls.

A search of the vehicle they were in uncovered additional fraudulent checks, check blanks, a printer and a computer used to produce the fraudulent checks.

All three suspects were booked into the Codington County Jail on bond ranging from $10,000 to $15,000.
