WATERTOWN, S.D.–Travel conditions in South Dakota are deteriorating today as a major winter storm pushes through the region.

The Watertown Police Department issued a news release early this morning recommending NO TRAVEL within the city limits.

Additionally, they say city-run facilities including City Hall, Watertown Regional Library, Watertown Regional Airport, Bramble Park Zoo, and the Prairie Lakes Wellness Center are all closed today.

Watertown is under an Ice Storm Warning until 6 p.m. Tuesday, then a Winter Storm Warning kicks in as the freezing rain transitions to snow.

The National Weather Service says snowfall amounts of 6 to 10 inches are expected in the Watertown area through Wednesday.
