Watertown mayor gives update on City Hall search (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Finding a location for a new Watertown City Hall has been a process that’s been going on for months, and is not likely to end anytime soon.

Nearly three years ago, the city thought they found a solution with the $1.3 million purchase of the Wells Fargo Bank building downtown. But the building needed remodeling to fit the city’s needs, and the only remodeling bid they received was well over budget.

That led the city this summer to declare the building surplus property, giving them the option of taking it off their hands and selling it to an interested developer.
