WATERTOWN, S.D.—Watertown Fire Rescue was dispatched to a fire in the deli section of Walmart over the noon hour Monday.

Once fire crews got there, they found there had been a fire in one of the deep fat fryers.

It had been completely extinguished by an employee with the use of a fire extinguisher.

Employees were doing general cleaning of the fryers and filtering the oil. One of the fryers was low on oil and had not been completely shut down, causing it to catch fire.

Exhaust fans were used to clean the deli area of smoke.

Damage was minimal.
