WATERTOWN, S.D.–Councilman Lynn Jurrens was the outlier at Monday night’s Watertown City Council meeting when it came to amending zoning ordinances and annexing land into the city as it relates to Lake Kampeska commercial development.

Jurrens was the only “no” vote among the seven voting members on the council. Much of his concern stemmed from the possible development of a campground at the lake, which under ordinance, is allowed under a conditional use scenario…..

City Manager Amanda Mack explained how a new campground at the lake could be approved at the city level….

She explains what some of those “conditions” could be….

The zoning ordinances and the annexation of 19 acres of land at the lake were approved on a 6-1 vote. Only Jurrens voted no.
