WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown City Council has approved three agenda items on annexation and rezoning that are connected to the planned development of a new senior living community on the Harmony Hill property along south Highway 81.

The annexation portion included a little more than 18 acres of land that is already surrounded by city limits.

The rezoning involves just under 75 acres at Harmony Hill from A-1 Agricultural to C-3 Highway Commercial District, a Planned Unit Development and R-3 Multi-Family Residential District.

Last October, the Sisters of Mother of God Monastery and the Board of Directors of Jenkins Living Center announced they’d entered into an agreement to develop the senior living community at Harmony Hill.

Sister Barbara Younger told the city council last night that the approval of these agenda items moves the project forward….

The senior living community will be designed to promote the dignity, freedom and wellness of its residents.
