UPDATE: SDHP releases names of people killed in crashes near Salem, Tea

SALEM, .S.D.–The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of the two people who died late Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in McCook County, one mile west of Salem.

Seventy two year-old Gerald Snoozy of Dell Rapids was driving a pickup headed westbound on Highway 38.

Seventy seven year-old Gilbert Schuchardt of Spencer, South Dakota was the driver of an eastbound car. The vehicles collided in the westbound lane.

The drivers of both vehicles were killed.

Meanwhile, authorities have released the name of the Brandon man who died Wednesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash near Tea.

Thirty nine year-old Lucas Reimers was the driver of a pickup, and was traveling on Interstate 29 about 6 miles south of Tea.

For unknown reasons, the vehicle left the road to the east, entered onto the shoulder and struck the guard cables and guard rail before going airborne into an overpass pillar.

Reimers died at the scene. He was alone in the pickup.
