UPDATE: Pedestrian killed on Interstate 29 near Sisseton identified

SISSETON, S.D.—A Wisconsin man has been identified as the pedestrian killed Friday night while walking on Interstate 29.

Forty six year-old Cornelius Kirk Junior of Rice Lake, Wisconsin was walking partially in the driving lane a half mile north of the Sisseton exit when he was struck by a GMC Yukon driven by 19 year-old Micah Reis of Sioux Falls.

Kirk died of his injuries.

Reis and her five passengers were not injured.

No charges are expected.

An obituary from the Cahill Funeral Home in Sisseton indicates Kirk’s funeral will be held Thursday at the Lake Traverse District Center in Browns Valley, Minnesota.
