UPDATE: Former Watertown Library Director banned from the facility for an additional 30 days  (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–The Watertown Library Board met today, and voted to extend a “no trespass order” against former Library Director DeDe Whitman for an additional 30 days.

Speaking to the board via telephone, Whitman said she’s been going through some difficult times personally, including a divorce, then went on to say proper policy was not followed in issuing the order that bans her from the building where she was once in charge….

Whitman feels she’s been the target of false accusations…

Then Whitman’s comments got personal…

Interim Library Director Maria Gruener says proper policy was followed in banning Whitman from the building…

City Manager Amanda Mack was at the meeting, and recommended the board extend the “no trespass order” for an additional 30 days. She talked about the circumstances that led to police getting involved…

The board voted 4-0 to ban Whitman from the library for an additional 30 days.

They’ll revisit the order when they meet again on July 5th.
