Trooper on leave after killing man on Interstate 94

MINNEAPOLIS – A Minnesota state trooper shot and killed a driver early Monday on I-94 in north Minneapolis.

The patrol says a trooper pulled a driver over because his car had no tail lights. The driver was wanted in Ramsey County for a felony crime. The driver refused to get out of the car and, officers they tried to remove him, he drove off and was shot by the trooper. The trooper who killed the man has been placed on administrative leave as have two other troopers.

The interstate near the scene was closed for several hours. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading the investigation.
