Teenage girl killed in crash northeast of Fort Thompson

FORT THOMPSON, S.D. – One person died Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash that occurred 14 miles northeast of Fort Thompson.

A Chevy Equinox was northbound and a Dodge Ram Pickup was southbound. The two vehicles collided on the crest of a hill.

The 17-year-old girl driving the Equinox was transferred by ambulance to the Chamberlain hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The male occupants of the pickup were injured. The 78-year-old driver suffered serious non-life threatening injuries and a 77-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts and both were transferred to the Chamberlain hospital.
