WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown Regional Airport was busier last month than its ever been….

That’s Airport Manager Todd Syhre. It’s the first month Watertown has been served by two commercial airlines, both of which are flying non-stop to Chicago and Denver…

Syhre says the airport is starting to realize its potential….

Syhre was asked if low fares are driving business, or maybe a pent up demand to travel in the wake of COVID-19….

The growth in business comes at the same time work continues on a new airport terminal in Watertown.

Syhre says the completion of that terminal, “can’t come soon enough.” Completion is expected in the spring of 2022.
