HURON, S.D.—A South Dakota legislator is in grave condition with the COVID-19 virus, and his son does not expect him to survive.

Representative Bob Glanzer of Huron (pictured) fell ill from the virus this month and is hospitalized in Sioux Falls in critical condition.

He’s on a ventilator and his family has issued a do-not-resuscitate order. His son Tom told the Argus Leader, “it would be a complete and utter miracle if he made a recovery.”

At least three separate Huron households in Glanzer’s extended family have tested positive for COVID-19.

Bob Glanzer’s niece, 51 year-old Mari Hofer of Huron, died on Saturday at Avera McKennan Hospital due to unknown causes, although she had been in contact with others who’ve tested positive for COVID-19.

Bob Glanzer is a retired banker who’s serving his second term in the Legislature.
