Spring sports in SD on hold till May 3rd

PIERRE, S.D. (GoWatertown.net) — Spring sports in South Dakota are on hold for a bit longer.

In a release South Dakota High School Activities Association Executive Director Dan Swartos says the activities association will halt spring sports practices and competitions through May 3rd.  This is due to the response from South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s direction that public schools in South Dakota should closed through May 1st due to the COVID19 pandemic.

Swartos says the SDHSAA Board of Directors will meet in coming days to decide on the 2020 Spring Sports season, as well as the suspended/postponed events of State Basketball, Visual Arts, Region Music, and All-State Band.
