March 6, 2024

PIERRE, S.D.–South Dakota officials are reminding folks to stay diligent among growing scams.

It’s part of National Consumer Protection Week this week.

The South Dakota Attorney General’s office says it received more than 64,000 calls, inquiries, and complaints last year from people who reported they had been a victim of a scam.

According to a new report from the Better Business Bureau, investment scams are now the riskiest out there.

Employment scams are the second, and online shopping scams land at number three, dropping from the top spot for the first time since 2019.
