South Dakota Highway Patrol urging safe travel over Thanksgiving holiday  (Audio)

PIERRE, S.D.–The South Dakota Highway Patrol will conduct a statewide operation in an effort to encourage those traveling this Thanksgiving to be careful.

This year’s Thanksgiving motor vehicle fatal crash reporting period covers 102 hours beginning at 6 p.m. tonight and ending at midnight Sunday.

Last year, South Dakota recorded 323 motor vehicle traffic crashes over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period that resulted in one fatality and 62 injuries.
