MITCHELL, S.D.–For most of the summer, South Dakota has seen expanding drought conditions in the south, with good rainfall in the north.
State Climatologist Laura Edwards (pictured) says heavy rain in southeast parts of the state this week will be of some help…
Edwards says the northern parts of the state are starting to dry down….
While rain now may not help this years crops, Edwards says they need to put some deposits in the water bank for next year….
Edwards says it looks like the La Nina may extend into a third year this fall and winter which could lead to less snow than average.
