Small fire forces precautionary evacuation of Hamlin school

HAYTI, S.D.–A small fire Tuesday morning forced the evacuation of students and staff from the Hamlin Education Center.
The evacuation was more precautionary as the fire in a shop area of the school was small, and damage was minimal.
A sheriff’s department dispatcher tells KWAT News the call came in at 11:08 a.m. Fire departments from Hayti and Lake Norden, the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Norden Ambulance responded to the call.
There were no reports of injuries.
