WATERTOWN, S.D.–South Dakota recently went through a redistricting process where legislative district boundaries were redrawn based on 2020 census numbers, and now the city of Watertown is going through that same process….
City Attorney Matt Roby says it means changes will need to be made in terms of city council representation for some residents of northeast Watertown, and what race they’re voting on in municipal elections…
City Finance Officer Kristen Bobzien says the residents who would be shifted to Ward C from Ward A won’t need to do anything…
The council heard the first reading of the changes Monday night. A second hearing will need to be heard, and approved, before the changes become official.
