WATERTOWN, S.D.—The National Weather Service says October was cooler than average in northeast South Dakota.

 

The Aberdeen office compiled the numbers and released their monthly weather summary. It shows the average high temperature in Watertown in October was 48.5 degrees—which is 7.9 degrees colder than normal.

 

The average low temperature for the month was 32.6 degrees, or 1.9 degrees colder than normal.

 

The warmest day in October in Watertown was 68 degrees on the 8th. The coldest temperature was 15 degrees on the 31st.

 

Watertown saw 2.33 inches of precipitation last month, which is .41 inches above normal.

 

The first measurable snow of the season fell on October 11th, meaning there were just 181 days between the final snow of last winter (April 12th) and the first one this season.
