Northeast South Dakota kidnapping suspect arrested in North Dakota

EDGELEY, N.D.– A South Dakota man was arrested north of Edgeley, North Dakota early Saturday morning in connection with a suspected kidnapping in Brown County, South Dakota.
Ryan Degroat (pictured) is accused of abducting a 41-year-old woman from her mother’s home. The incident was reported around 10:30 Friday night.
Law enforcement was able to use cell phone triangulation to locate the suspect’s car on Highway 281, 8 miles north of Edgeley. Degroat was taken to Stutsman County Corrections.
The woman was taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center and treated for injuries sustained in the incident.
Felony charges are pending and the incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
