North Dakota authorities search for driver involved in death of pedestrian

DUNSEITH, N.D.–Authorities are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a 7 year old girl in North Dakota’s Rolette County Saturday afternoon.

The driver is identified as Joshua Forschen. The Rolette County States Attorney says Forschen was northbound on US Highway 281, when he encountered a group of juveniles crossing the highway. The vehicle struck the girl, who suffered fatal injuries. The vehicle went into the ditch, but left the scene.

The Rolette County State’s Attorney says Forschen faces two felony charges – Hit and Run involving the death of the victim, and Manslaughter.

Both are class “B” felonies, which carry a maximum of 10 years in prison.

The name of the victim was not released.
