WATERTOWN, S.D.–Six months ago, Governor Kristi Noem began appearing in television ads as part of the “Freedom Works Here” campaign designed to attract out-of-staters to South Dakota to fill vacant jobs.

On Monday, the Legislature’s Executive Board met to scrutinize the selection of Ohio-based Go West Media for the workforce campaign.
Executive Board Chairman Rep. Hugh Bartels of Watertown said the board will not further investigate the issue. He said because the Go West deal is a “personal services contract,” the Governor’s Office acted within its authority.
