SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has appointed a Rapid City businesswoman to fill a vacant Senate seat for the 2020 legislative session.

Noem has named Jessica Castleberry to take the seat left vacant when Republican Lyndi DiSanto resigned in November.

Castleberry runs several preschools in Rapid City and is an instructor at Black Hills State University.

She will serve the Senate in District 35. The legislative session begins January 14th with Governor Noem’s State of the State address.
