February 15, 2024

TORONTO, S.D.–Snow covered and slippery roads are the apparent cause of a crash in Deuel County Wednesday that left a woman dead.

The Highway Patrol says it happened just before noon on South Dakota Highway 15, two miles west and a one mile north of Toronto.

A 68 year-old woman from Toronto was driving a car southbound when she lost control on the icy highway and slid across the centerline where she collided with a semi.

The woman was dead at the scene.

The 62 year-old man driving the semi was not hurt.

The Highway Patrol has not released the names of those involved yet.
