WATERTOWN, S.D.–On a 6-to-1 vote Monday night, the Watertown City Council approved a lease agrement with the Watertown Optimist Club to construct a new storage building at Stokes Thomas City Park.

The 32 foot by 40 foot building will be used to store lights and other supplies associated with the annual Winter Wonderland display.

The only “no” vote came from Councilman Mike Danforth….

It’s a five year lease agreement that was approved. It calls for the Optimist Club to pay the city one dollar a year. If the agreement is ever terminated, the storage building becomes the property of the city.
