NEW: Investigation underway after inmate hangs himself at Lac Qui Parle County Jail

ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is investigating after an inmate at the Lac qui Parle County Jail in Madison was found deceased in his cell on Saturday.
Jail personnel found 60 year-old Dennis Eugene Kipp of Graceville, deceased just before 4 p.m. in an apparent hanging. Kipp had been booked into the Lac qui Parle County Jail last week on a meth possession charge from Big Stone County.
Big Stone County does not have its own jail. Kipp was the only person in his housing unit at the time. He was declared dead at the scene.
As part of its preliminary investigation, BCA agents are reviewing all available video footage from inside the jail.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting the autopsy.
