NEW: Fire damages Brookings dairy barn

BROOKINGS, S.D.–A dairy barn just north of the SDSU campus in Brookings caught fire this morning.
The fire in the 3200 block of Medary Avenue was reported just after 8:00 a.m.
Prior to responding, employees at the barn released all dairy cows from the building.
Fire crews arrived to find flames that were visible on the north side of the building.
Authorities say the fire appears to have started in a manure pumping room and spread to other parts of the barn.
No cattle died as a result of the fire.
