BROOKINGS, S.D.–Court documents have revealed more details about a former Watertown soccer and debate coach who was arrested last week for having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

Thirty two year-old Jordan Bakken (pictured) has been charged with 4th Degree Rape, solicitation of a minor, and sexual contact with a child under 18.

According to an investigation conducted by South Dakota DCI Agent Tasha Vohlken,  Bakken and the victim had formed a close relationship that progressed to more than friendship in early December.

A probable cause affidavit filed in Brookings County indicates that on the night of January 22nd, the relationship was discovered by the victim’s parents. At that point, the victim ran away from her home and was picked up by Bakken.

The two drove to a cabin owned by Bakken’s parents near Gettysburg, South Dakota.

After the victim’s parents were able to make contact with Bakken, they all agreed to meet in Redfield to drop the victim off with her parents and return to Watertown.

Through questioning by Vohlken, it was discovered that on the nights of January 12th and 13th, the victim and Bakken had been staying in the same hotel in Brookings. That’s when the victim went to Bakken’s hotel room and they engaged in sexual activity.

Bakken is no longer employed in Watertown School District where he taught English in addition to his coaching duties. The Watertown School Board accepted his resignation Monday.
