Minnesota officials report 5th death from the coronavirus

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The Minnesota Department of Health has confirmed the state’s fifth death from the coronavirus.

The department’s infectious disease director says all of the people who have died from COVID-19 have been in their 70s and 80s.

Health officials say they’re focused on elder care facilities because they house the group at the highest risk of dying from the virus.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is under a 14-day quarantine and is working from the official Governor’s Residence in St. Paul.

He signed a bill Saturday to provide $330 million in assistance to help manage the pandemic.
