GWINNER, N.D.–A man was killed in a crash one mile east of Gwinner shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday.

The State Patrol says a semi hauling cattle was traveling east on Highway 13 when it collided at the intersection with a pickup that was traveling north on Highway 32.

The pickup driver had stopped at the stop sign and then made a left-hand turn, failing to yield for the oncoming semi. The driver of the semi braked and tried to avoid the collision but struck the pickup on the driver’s side door. Both vehicles left the roadway and ended up in the ditch.

The pickup driver died at the scene. The name of the 90-year old Gwinner man has not been released. The semi driver was not hurt.
