Madison man sentenced for raping six year-old boy

MADISON, S.D.–A Madison man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for raping a six year-old boy.
Twenty year-old Declan Nelson was sentenced this week in Lake County Circuit Court.
He had earlier pleaded guilty to raping the boy in a Madison park in 2021.
Nelson also was ordered to pay attorney fees, the cost of a psychosexual evaluation, various court costs and restitution to the victim’s family
The case was investigated by the Madison Police Department and prosecuted by the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office.
