WATERTOWN, S.D.—Getting lost in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic is the launch of the U.S. Census survey.

The detailed population count is done every ten years. It’s important to cities, because the numbers determine what they receive in the way of federal aid.

Watertown Mayor Sarah Caron says census workers won’t be going door to door, but people can participate by filling out the census online, or by mail.

So far, the response in Codington County has been pretty good….

The plan is for all of the census numbers to be turned in to the president by the end of the year.
