WATERTOWN, S.D.–Winter came with a vengeance to northeast South Dakota this week. The first “snow alert” of the season in Watertown followed a week of freezing rain, sleet, snow, strong winds and blizzard conditions.

A “snow alert” is issued anytime Watertown receives two or more inches of snow.

KWAT News talked with Street Superintendent Rob Beynon about snow removal plans for this weekend, whether so-called “snow gates” will be in play, and if supply chain issues have affected the department’s quantity of sand and brine used to give drivers more traction.
