WATERTOWN, S.D.–This week’s weather doesn’t make it feel like road construction season, but as soon as the weather straightens out, crews will be out working on a nearly $13 million project in Watertown.

Highway 212 from the Highway 81 intersection to 19th Street East will be torn up and re-built this summer.

South Dakota DOT Engineer Bryce Olson says right now, that stretch of highway is in bad shape…

Besides rebuilding the highway, new sidewalks will be added on both sides of 212, there will be new street lights installed, and the traffic signal light at the main entrance to the Watertown Mall will be re-located one block east…

J & J Earthworks is the general contractor on the project, which has a scheduled completion date of October 28th.
