DOLAND, S.D.–There have been two Greenfields serving in the South Dakota Legislature since 2014.

Next year, there won’t be any.

Republican Senator Brock Greenfield of Clark has announced he’s running for Commissioner of School and Public Lands.

His mother, District Two Representative Lana Greenfield of Doland, is term-limited and has decided not to run for her son’s Senate seat.

Lana Greenfield says she has, “little desire” to run for the Senate at this point.

She says she plans to step away for now, but is not ruling out another run for a Legislative seat in two years.

Brock Greenfield has served continuously in the Legislature since 2001.

Lana Greenfield has been a House member for four terms, covering the past eight years.
