MADISON, S.D.–Around 2,000 people attended the funeral of Moody County Chief Deputy Ken Prorok at the Dakota State University Fieldhouse, half of that estimated to be law enforcement.

The family of Ken Prorok spoke before the funeral Thursday afternoon, telling everyone how much all the words of sympathy and offers to help have helped them.

Robin Eich, sister-in-law to Prorok, spoke on behalf of the family.

The man accused of intentionally running over Prorok during a police pursuit is due back in court this morning. He’s facing a charge of Premeditated First Degree Murder.

The South Dakota Legislature honored Prorok Thursday afternoon with a commemoration read on the Senate floor.

The reading was done by Prorok’s friend,  Senate Majority Leader Casey Crabtree….

A moment of silence followed the commemoration.
