HURON, S.D.–A devastating fire last October destroyed the Beef Complex building on the South Dakota Sate Fairgrounds in Huron.

Now plans are in place to construct a brand new building that will replace it.

Interim South Dakota Ag Secretary Hunter Roberts says it’ll be called the South Dakota Events Complex…

Former State Senator Jim White of Huron a private fundraising effort that aims to raise four million dollars toward this $19 million project…

Roberts talked about the timeline for getting the complex built…

Governor Noem included $12 million in state general fund dollars toward the project in her budget proposal.

Insurance proceeds from the fire will pay a portion of the construction costs, and White says they’d like to get the private dollars raised by the end of the upcoming legislative session.
