Full steam ahead on industrial hemp in South Dakota
PIERRE, S.D. (WNAX) — The South Dakota Legislature’s Rules Review Committee met with the State Departments of Agriculture and Public Safety and approved the rules for the growing of industrial hemp. South Dakota Industrial Hemp Association leaders also met with the committee.
Executive Director Katie (see-ver-ding) Sieverding says those farmers who want to grow industrial hemp for the 2021 growing season will have until March first to make an application to proceed.
Sieverding says she’s hearing a lot of interest in those wanting to grow industrial hemp, and their Association Vice President Derrick (doe-mun) Dohman with Horizon Hemp Seed has also been getting a lot of interest from growers.
Sieverding says those wanting more information about industrial hemp or the rules should contact the State Department of Agriculture and can also go to the South Dakota Industrial Hemp Association’s website.
