WATERTOWN, S.D.–Areas of northeast South Dakota that have not seen frost yet this fall will almost certainly get a taste of it Friday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning (purple shaded area) that covers almost all of east river South Dakota from 10 p.m. Thursday night to 10 a.m. Friday.

Megan Mulford at the National Weather Service in Aberdeen says it’s a virtual certainty that the growing season will be ending with a killing frost tonight…

But temperatures do bounce back a little this weekend…

Areas along the South Dakota-North Dakota border could drop into the upper teens for lows tonight. The forecast low at Eureka, for example, is 19 degrees.
