Fire damages animal nutrition plant in Aurora

BROOKINGS, S.D.–Several local fire departments respond to a fire at an animal nutrition plant in Aurora.
The fire at Novita was reported shortly before 9:00 o’clock Sunday night.
The Aurora, Brookings, Bruce, Elkton, Sinai, Volga, and White Fire Departments all responded, as did Brookings Ambulance and Brookings County Emergency Management.
According to Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring, a piece of processing equipment on the third floor had caught fire. The building was evacuated and crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
