Danielsen talks with KWAT News about Watertown teacher under investigation (Audio)

WATERTOWN, S.D.–Watertown School District Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen revealed Tuesday that a teacher is being investigated after handing out a letter to four high school students that attempted to open up a conversation about the students’ gender identity.

Danielsen says the school district does not support the action of the teacher, and strongly condemns any discrimination based on sexual orientation or identity.

Danielsen tells KWAT News he’s visited with the students, parents and the faculty member about what happened…

Danielsen says it was important to issue a news release about the teacher’s actions, in the interest of transparency….

Danielsen says there are a wide range of disciplinary actions the teacher could face…

The teacher in question has not been publicly identified by the school district, although copies of the letter he handed out to the four students have been posted on social media.
